Up for a Places We Go Adventure?

It's 3.30am, Saturday 27th March, 2010 - the perfect time to start our Places We Go the 'Great Aussie Drive' adventure!!! We set off for Cape Byron Lookout. With the most powerful lighthouse in all of Australia as our guiding light, we piled out of our X-Trail and attempted to put a sleepy 2 year old Charli Grace in our 'trekking backpack'. Much easier said than done - Miss Independent wanted to walk, so walk she did!

The sunrise was spectacular and it was the perfect place to reflect on the awesome journey ahead. Winding our way back to our caravan park in Lennox Head, we arrived to the smell of bacon and eggs! Our wonderful support team had breakfast waiting, for the day was young! Our next stop was celebrating one of Australia's icons - surfing. We were also meeting none other than the man they call the godfather of the modern day surfboard, Bob McTavish, and his mate, former US surfing Champion, Rusty Miller! They took us to one of their favourite spots to surf - Watego's. For any of you that know Watego's, you would know we were grinning from ear to ear! I was a little nervous as I had never surfed before, and there's nothing quite like having a camera on you when you are falling over more than you are standing up! Clint, of course, took to it like a duck to water, and as for our new friends Bob and Rusty, they shared not only their love of surfing, but their love of life. They left the boys saying, "they hope we grow up like them!!!"
